Introduction

It’s that time of year again where everyone is talking about their New Year’s resolutions. For some, it’s about getting healthy or losing weight. However, for many students, this means setting a goal to improve their grades or studying habits. For students though, sometimes the New Year can be a time to focus on schoolwork and academics. If you’re like most students, you may be struggling to come up with ideas on how to make this year your best yet. So, if you’re having trouble getting started on your New Year’s resolutions, here are a few pointers.

A few pointers to get you started:

Set achievable goals

It’s important to set goals that are realistic and achievable, otherwise, you’re just setting yourself up for disappointment. When it comes to school work, break your goals down into smaller steps so that you can easily track your progress.

Be specific

When setting your goals, be sure to be as specific as possible. This will help you stay on track and make progress towards your goal.

Make a plan

Once you have your goals set, it’s important to make a plan of action. This could involve planning to exercise every day or reading a book each week.

Be patient

It takes time to make changes, so be patient with yourself and don’t give up! If you slip up along the way it’s okay as long as you get back on track as soon as possible.

Create a schedule

One of the best ways to achieve success in school is to create a study schedule and stick to it. This doesn’t mean you have to study all day every day, but rather find a routine that works for you and stick to it.

Get organized

This one goes hand in hand with creating a study schedule. It will be impossible to get anything done if your school work is spread all over the room. Start by gathering all of your materials and putting them in one place. This can be anything from a folder for each class to a designated study area.

Reward yourself

When you complete a goal, allow yourself to have something that you enjoy as a reward. This can be anything from taking the day off of school work to having some ice cream with friends after your midterm. The key is to not get carried away, or otherwise enormous goals will take an eternity to achieve! At the end of the day, just remember to have fun and enjoy your time in school with your friends and teachers.

Use these tips as a starting point and get creative with your own ideas. The most important thing is to make sure you’re putting in the effort and staying motivated throughout the year. Good luck!

Happy New Year!
