Introduction
Schools are among the first places where children’s behavior and future academic success are formed. The first years of school are critical because children learn the foundation of their educational life. A teacher bears a great deal of responsibility in his or her classroom. One reason is that all of the students rely on them. The students will be influenced by everything the teacher says while coaching them. Whether the teacher is happy or angry, it will be passed on to the students because the teacher’s attitude ‘ is transmittable. Teachers have had a strong foundation in Indian education. They have made significant contributions to education. There are many other great teachers who have made their mark in the field of education and have come to be known all over the world.
Here are just a few of them:
Dr. Zakir Hussain
Dr. Zakir Hussain is India’s only president to get the “Bharat Ratna” award for exceptional and outstanding service to the country in areas such as education, culture, and social service. He was also a great teacher of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) and an eminent scholar par excellence.
Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan
Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was a philosopher and statesman who served as the second president of India from 1962 to 1967. He is the only person who went from being a teacher to becoming President of India.
Annie Besant
Annie Besant was an outstanding woman leader and orator in the early 20th century. She played a very important role in modernizing the Indian education system and founded many schools for girls across the country, especially in Bengal. Annie Besant also served as president of the Indian National Congress.
John Bongaarts
John Bongaarts is a distinguished anthropologist and teacher who has taught at universities like New York, Chicago, and Delhi since 1966. He was also dean of faculty for social sciences in Vassar College from 1984 to 1995. His articles have appeared in a variety of publications around the world and he continues to travel around India and give lectures at different places.
Ezekiel Nissim
Nissim Ezekiel, a poet, and a teacher were instrumental in freeing Indian English poetry from colonial restrictions. Ezekiel’s poems, in addition to assisting Indian English in finding its voice, have inspired a whole generation of poets. From 1947 to the 1990s, Nissim Ezekiel nurtured some of these budding poets and taught hundreds of wide-eyed English literature students in Mumbai.
Savitribai Phule
Teaching is arguably a woman-dominated profession, particularly in India. She was the first female teacher at India’s first women’s school, and her job wasn’t easy. So when Savitribai Phule and her husband founded a girls’ school in Pune in 1948, it sparked controversy in the brahmin-dominated city. By the end of the year, Phule had established five more girls’ schools. The British government later honored Savitribai Phule for her services to education.
Pt Sawai Gandharva
Rambhau Kundgolkar, best known by his stage name Sawai Gandharva, was a teacher to some of Hindustani classical music’s greatest singers, including Pt Bhimsen Joshi and Gangubai Hangal.

These are only a few of the many great teachers who have made their mark in the field of education and become well-known teachers all over the world. Their teachings and examples continue to inspire students and educators alike, and they will continue to do so for many years to come. They have dedicated their lives to teaching and helping students learn and grow. Each one of them is an inspiration for all educators.
